China Creek Meeting

China Creek Skate Park | CoastalBC.com
As noted elsewhere, the Planning Committee of the Vancouver Parks Board will be meeting to discuss the future of China Creek.
For those unaware, the city is planning to do some upgrades to the park next year. They have presented 3 different options and, after some consultation with full Parks Board, have narrowed the options down to 2. The first option is to keep the existing skate park (one of the oldest in North America) and the second option is to remove it.
If you live in the area and care about parks in your community, come on down and let your opinion be known. I’ll be there and will be speaking.
Here is the email the Parks Committe sent out earlier this week:
Hi there,
This is to let you know that the issues associated with China Creek South Park will be discussed at the Park Board’s Planning Committee on Tuesday, Dec. 5th (the meeting starts at 7 pm and will be held at the Park Board Administration Building, 2099 Beach Avenue).
Details: Link
The Planning Committee is a sub-committee of the full Park Board. The China Creek South Park project will go to the full Park Board in early 2007 for a final decision.
Those wishing to speak can register with Barbara Joughin at 604-257-8452.
Speakers will have 3 to 5 minutes for each of their presentations (the time limit varies depending on the number of speakers who sign up). Please prepare you presentation ahead of time and focus on the key points (three minutes goes by real fast!).
If you can’t attend, you can always send your comments in by email. You can send them my way and I’ll forward to them to the Park Commissioners.
Please contact me should you have questions/comments.
