Clark Foam is Closing and Auctioning Their Equipment
Back on December 5th, a 7-page fax was sent to folks within the surfboard manufacturing industry that sent shockwaves throughout the entire sport of surfing. The fax was sent by Gordon Clark, owner of Clark Foam and supplier of roughly 90% of the world’s foam blanks. In the fax, Gordon announced that Clark Foam was closing due to restrictions put in place by the Environmental Protection Agency regarding the use of Toluene Di Isocynate, a toxic chemical used in the manufacturing of the blanks.
While Googling around, I stumbled upon a website advertising an auction for Clark Foam’s manufacturing equipment. If anyone out there is thinking of filling the void that has been left behind, the auction goes down on March 8th.
Hope you already bought your blank!
