The Killers Kill Me

The Killers played a show in Vancouver recently. I didn’t see the show, but I heard it was good, and I heard a lot of people were complaining that the show was short. Of course the show was short… they only have one album out! Well, that’s not completely true, but I’ll get to that in a moment.

Before I go any further, let me just say that I like the Killers. Their music is catchy and seems right at home with the new New Wave craze that has been going on for the last few years. It’s not the best (they’re no Hot Hot Heat), but it’s not the worst either.

Now that I’ve got that out of the way… they released Hot Fuss in 2004 and just over a year later they released a limited edition, extended version with a mind-blowing 3 extra tracks. Now I hear that their next album, due on November 22, will be a very limited edition box set! A box set? A box set of what? For who? Well, it’s a box set of the 14 tracks off Hot Fuss (11+3), 3 remixes, some unreleased stuff and at least 2 covers. So, not much really. Oh ya, and it’s a collection of 7-inch vinyl.

  1. A box set? You’re killing me… :)

I like The Killers for their Cure-ish sound. I was someone who saw them last week but, I have to say, I left disappointed. I didn’t feel engaged with the band or audience in the Pac. Col. that was 2/3s full. It was okay but didn’t blow my hair back.

Nice blogging, Mr. Landry. You’re now listed in my bloglines and you’ve inspired me to start weblogging again.

  2. Hey Jenn, I was hoping you would start posting again; my subscription to your feed hasn’t lit up in awhile.

Speaking of music, have you ever heard anything by The Organ? If not, check them out, I think you might like them.
