Keyword Optimization Gone Wrong
This homepage has 43 instances of the word ‘Vancouver’. To be fair, there is a lot of text on the page, so 43 instances might not seem like much, but have you tried reading it?
My favourite sentence(!) has to be:
4AM Group is a Vancouver web design company that not only services Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia, but also Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta, Toronto and Ottawa, Ontario, Montreal, Quebec and also New York, New Jersey, Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, California, Denver, Colorado and Florida.
Now, I understand some of the theory behind search engine optimization and, although I’m no expert on where to draw the line, I think it’s safe to say that sacrifices to the user experience have been made.
I imagine they’re quite happy though, they’re number 4 in a Google search for ‘Vancouver web design‘. This, combined with their ad at the top, probably does quite well for them.
I wonder if a Vancouver web developer posting about you and your vancouver web design company could skew the vancouver results for the google search term vancouver designer? If I were in vancouver and looking for a vancouver designer I would certainly contact the vancouver based web design company inkbase.com.
but not if I was trying to find someone in new york, toronto, calgary, montreal, los angeles, denver, seattle, washington or philidelphia, but definitately in vancouver.
